Pražské vodovody a kanalizace, a.s. (PVK) is the largest water and wastewater utility in the Czech Republic operating water management infrastructure managed by Pražská vodohospodářská společnost, a.s. (PVS). PVK together with PVS are looking to minimise their impact on the environment and find ways to improve water management in Prague, with resilient water infrastructure, reducing water losses and valuing wastewater and resource recovery options.
As the largest national utility, PVK evaluated its GHG emissions and together with PVS set the goal to achieve net operational carbon neutrality by 2035. To achieve this goal, ISO Standard ČSN ISO 14064-1 was chosen as the most suitable methodology since PVK has been certified according to other ISO standards. To evaluate GHG emissions, a roadmap and process map was developed in line with the internationally recognised GHG protocol on Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
